Christopher Townsend
Senior Director, Actuarial Division, OSFI

Chris Townsend is the Senior Director, Actuarial Division at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada (OSFI). Chris is responsible for managing and directing OSFI's centre of expertise in the area of actuarial practice as applied by federally regulated financial institutions. Chris joined OSFI in January 2012, as Managing Director, Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance, within the Actuarial Division.

Chris brought to OSFI over 30 years of experience, primarily in the P&C industry. During his career, Chris assumed several managerial roles, including that of Appointed Actuary, and Senior Vice-President, Chief Actuary. In addition, Chris continues to be an active contributor to the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) practice and membership committees, and recently served as Director of the CIA.
