Hudson Lopez

Hudson is a Partner in KPMG's financial services practice in Toronto, specializing in serving domestic and multinational P&C and Life insurers and reinsurers, reporting under different bases of accounting. He has 20 years' experience in the audit of financial services companies, having worked with KPMG in New Zealand and the Cayman Islands as well as Canada. He is currently involved in the audits of domestic and multi-national insurers, leading a team in planning, executing the audit strategy and reporting to those charged with governance and assisting clients in their IFRS 17 implementation programs

Hudson is responsible for delivering a high-level IFRS 17 impact assessment for five Canadian insurers (P&C and Life). These engagements included conducting an accounting and actuarial gap analysis, facilitating education sessions and workshops at clients to educate and engage wider-stakeholder groups.

Hudson has been involved in a number of speaking engagements on IFRS 17 and its impacts on clients and is often asked to contribute at client and industry events. Examples include: KPMG's Annual Insurance Conference, Canadian Insurance Financial Forum, IBC Symposium, Canadian Institute of Actuaries Seminar, Acumen.

Hudson is a member of KPMG Canada's Insurance Technical Topic Team and a member of the OSFI Insurance Auditors Advisory and CLHIA IFRS Advisory Committees.
