Paul Taylor, Director of Operations, Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario

Paul began his insurance career as an insurance agent at the Personal Insurance Company in 1999.  He moved to the company’s training department as a programme developer and facilitator in 2000.  Paul was primarily responsible for licensing training for new staff, and designing and delivering product and systems training to all levels of staff within the organization.  He worked as the company changed hands from CIBC to Desjardin and helped support the transition of systems and underwriting philosophy. 

Paul joined the Insurance Brokers Association in 2003 in as their Education Program Manager, working with staff to build a curriculum of courses to meet licensing and continuing education requirements for their member brokers.  He also worked with industry partners on various projects for the Ontario brokers.  He has worked through a variety of positions at the IBAO since joining, and has been in his current role of Director of Operations since December 2007, working closely with Randy Carroll, CEO to implement strategic planning and policies at the direction of the Board of Directors.  Paul is also Vice President of Independent Broker Resources Inc. (IBRI), a for profit corporation wholly owned by the IBAO.

Paul sat on the FSCO working group responsible for the creation of the standardized consumer communication materials during the implementation of the Ontario Auto reforms, and currently sits on the Facility Association Rates and Rules Committee.
