Doug Hogan, CFO, The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company

Doug has been Chief Financial Officer of The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company since 1997. He audited at Price Waterhouse from 1987 to 1992 and joined The Dominion in 1992. He holds a B.Comm from the University of Toronto (1987) and became a Chartered Accountant in 1989.

In his role at The Dominion, Doug contributes to overall corporate strategy and oversees financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, capital management, tax strategy, internal controls over financial reporting, public company financial disclosures and commercial lending to independent insurance brokers. Doug also contributes to The Dominion's regulatory compliance and risk management strategy and processes.

Doug has been an active collaborator with industry colleagues at the Insurance Bureau of Canada, including serving as a member on the Financial Affairs Committee, the Tax Panel, the Financial Reporting Sub-committee (which he chaired from 1999-2003) and the IFRS Working Group.

Doug is a member of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board’s Insurance Accounting Task Force which advises the Board with respect to the International Accounting Standards Board’s development of a comprehensive insurance accounting standard.

Doug speaks at insurance industry conferences on financial topics and has contributed articles in insurance publications.
